Borders in Cold Conditions

I've just purchased a pair of Border Fancy Canaries. I need to know if they're sensitive to cold weather. I breed only Vasser Shlager canaries in my Birdshed and they are sensitive to temperture below 10 degrees centergrades and wind. I've purchased this pair just because of a hunch - they look so cute! I have never raised birds in a shed but friends who do have heaters in their shed.  My birdroom is in my basement where the temperature is always above 18°C so I don't know how low of a temperature borders can withstand without being stressed.  Can someone help Pini with some advice?

Reg Nixon's Borders

Reg Nixon of Victoria, BC is one of only a handful of Canadian Border fanciers.  We live over 4000 km apart.  He has made some good improvements to his birds last year.  Here are a couple of his very nice borders.

A Visit to Luis' Birdroom

A couple of weeks ago a fellow fancier convinced me to go along with him on a visit to see some birds across the border.  It turned out to be an excellent trip as I got to see style of birds that I had not yet seen in person until that day.  One of the people we visited was Luis Belchior who took the time to take us out for breakfast and show us his birdroom even though he had things to do that day.  Thanks again for the bird Luis.

Here are a few of Luis' excellent borders.

2011 Borders

Here are a few of my birds from the 2011 breeding season.  I started with 4 hens over 3 years ago, lost 1, and I have been working with the same 3 hens and their offsprings ever since.
